Having a good balance between your work and your daily life is crucial to maintaining a positive mood and good mental health, but it’s not so easy for everyone to achieve. The stresses of work can lead to anxiety and even depression.

One of the easiest ways to get through these stressful times is to remember to practice self-care, and that goes for all year long, as well. When you get busy with work and all the responsibilities life throws your way, it’s easy to forget to take care of yourself. By working a few minor adjustments into your daily routine, you can instantly improve your mood and your outlook.
Here are some of the best ways to maintain a good work/life balance.
Learn to say no
Taking on too many projects and responsibilities is a good way to burn out quickly, so learn how to say no once in awhile. Prioritize your to-do list and choose the three or four most important things to get done within a certain timeframe; that way, you won’t have so many things to accomplish in a short amount of time.
Make the most of quality time
When you’re at home, set aside time to be spent only with family and stick to it. Whether you choose to watch a movie together or have a family game night, put the phone away and refuse to answer emails during this time. Being with family and knowing that you’re giving them some of your time will help give you peace of mind when those feelings of guilt set in while you’re working late nights.
Get some vitamin D
If you spend most of your day in an office or cubicle, it’s extra important to get outside whenever you can and soak up the sun; better yet, go for a brisk walk around the block on your lunch break. Exercise and vitamin D are both natural mood-boosters and can help you stay healthy while improving your mental wellbeing.
Practice self-care
When you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, make it a point to take a time out and do something that makes you happy in a healthy way. Take a long hot bath or curl up with a good book. Finding time to exercise is also an important aspect of self-care. Whether you go for a jog, join a swim team for adults, or take up indoor rock climbing, find a form of exercise that you actually look forward to doing. Carving time out of your schedule to make sure your mind and body are in tune is essential when both work and life keep you on your toes.
It might also be helpful to learn meditation, yoga, or breathing exercises; these can go a long way toward helping you relax when you don’t have much time, and they can even be done in a chair at the office.
Ask for help
No one can take care of everything all the time. It’s okay to ask for help now and then, whether it’s with work or at home. Ease some of the burden and allow someone else to take over now and then.
Though it’s easy to forget, life is a gift and time is fleeting. Be sure to find your work/life balance so you can truly enjoy it all.
