1 can of evaporated milk
1 can Coco Lopez
1 can coconut cream
1/2 t nutmeg, cinnamon
1/2 T vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
1 cup or more of rum to your taste. Add last!

Blend all ingredients in a blender. Allow to settle and serve chilled.

Coquito how I love you. Not sure what Coquito is? Well some liken it to the Puerto Rican version of egg-nog served around the Christmas holidays, along with other traditional foods. Coquito has a basic recipe, but like most recipes you can add your own flavors to it to make it your own. Traditionally, you can visit ten different family or friends and they will each have their own take on the drink. It was clearly the basis for why an organization like Coquito Masters began.

Coquito Masters founded in 2001 by Debbie Quiñones in her house as joke has now expanded to qualifiers where blind taste test are conducted with guest judges and community partnerships that promote tourism and economic growth. The event has served as a tool to create a new informed coquito consumer and develop coquito businesses that have been taste proven and given the seal of approval from the International Coquito Federation which she also founded. Now in its 14th year they have expanded to other states and have created regional championship events. In addition, she has also created a “Got Coquito” clothing line! Think you coquito can make it? To host a Coquito Masters Qualifier please contact Debbie at coquitomasters@gmail.com.
